Valve Cover Racing – it’s “Pinewood Derby” for grown-ups!
You start with a valve cover from an American made automobile engine as the starting point for your “racer”. You then adding a chassis, wheels and weights. Valve Cover Racers can be engineered in any way you see fit, so long as it follows the official rules (click link below for official rules).

Then bring your Valve Cover Racer to the 4th Annual Hot Rod Holiday show on Saturday, November 18th to race. Each racer will be randomly placed in a bracket format, and then the race is on to find the 3 Fastest Valve Cover Racers!
Building a Valve Cover Racer can be as simple or complex as you can dream up. The simplest and easiest design uses a valve cover, some plywood for the base and rolling gears from an old skateboard. Don’t be afraid to put your personality into the design and paint job.
Awards will be handed out for the 3 Fastest, the slowest and the Coolest looking! There is NO Cost to race your Valve Cover racer once inside the 4th Annual Hot Rod Holiday show.
